Deborah Males is a painter and architect. She began her career at Texas A&M University in College Station studying Environmental Design. After receiving her degree in 1978 she spent a year apprenticing with expressionist painter Allen Stacell. She enrolled in a graduate program at Texas A& M in Corpus Christi and the University of Vera Cruz, Mexico studying painting, language and Mexican Art History. She earned her MA in 1980. While continuing to paint, she completed and architect apprenticeship and received her architect’s license in 1990.
Deborah’s work can be found in numerous private and public collections, including the permanent collection of the City of Corpus Christi and South Texas Institute for the Arts. The recipient of many awards, she has conducted seminars on process painting and taught classes at Del Mar College. She maintains a studio in Corpus Christi where she paints commissioned pieces as well as work for gallery exhibition.
